Project Highlights
The Learning Garden

Visit the Learning Garden at the Pioneer Hotel in Shipyards Park! From June through August, join our Family Literacy staff in the garden for exploration, daily programs, workshops, mud + water play, and much more!

Community Literacy

Darcy, the community facilitator in Dawson has started a sewing program this winter. The hope of being able to sew baby bonnets, children’s mitts and toques and traditional anoraks. We look forward to hopefully being able to offer the sewing program to members of the public in Dawson as soon as it is safe to do so.

Winter Fun at the Family Literacy Centre

At the FLC, we haven’t let the pandemic get in the way of families learning and playing together. We’ve set-up a broad selection of ready-to-go crafts and activities, just for you! Pick-up a tray, have a seat, and have fun. Colour-by-number; paint wood; explore magnetism make Oobleck, and much more. There’s something for everyone!

Chisel and Chill

As part of the Youth Employment Skills program, Chisel and Chill offers youth a chance to learn to carve, build, and design snow sculptures! With training from artist Michel Gignac, participants engage in the snow carving process from start to finish. Get Caught Reading Photo Contest!

This Family Literacy Day, "Get Caught Reading" and enter to win! From January 27th - February 24th, take photos of yourself and/or your loved ones reading in fun and creative places, then enter those photos for a chance to win prizes! Visit our EVENTS page for details!

The Go For Literacy Bus hits the Road!
