Canada Games Center
The Canada Games Centre opened October 2005. It is the main centre for indoor recreation activity for the City of Whitehorse and surrounding communities.

Council of Yukon First Nations
The Council of Yukon First Nations is the central political organization for the First Nation people of the Yukon. It has been in existence since 1973 and continues to serve the needs of First Nations within the Yukon and the MacKenzie delta.

Learning Disabilities Association of Yukon (LDAY)
The Learning Disabilities Association of Yukon (LDAY) is a volunteer, non-profit organization which provides services and programs for Yukoners with learning disabilities.

Rendezvous Rotary Club of Whitehorse
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Service Canada was created in 2005 to improve the delivery of government programs and services to Canadians, by making access to them faster, easier, and more convenient. Service Canada offers single-window access to a wide range of Government of Canada programs and services for citizens through more than 600 points of service located across the country, call centres, and the Internet.

Service d'Orientation et de Formation des Adultes (SOFA)
SOFA is a one stop service that caters in French to the needs of adults and families in the Yukon with regard to basic and French-language literacy, employment skills, professional development, career development and postsecondary education. In addition, SOFA is in charge of the pilot project on centralized immigrant intake services.

Yukon Government Education
Literacy is the foundation for life-long learning, and the Department of Education strives to ensure that Yukon learners acquire the necessary literacy learning skills to become independent readers, writers and thinkers. The Department is committed to literacy and appreciates its partnership with community organizations and literacy groups throughout Yukon. The Department supports literacy for pre-K to 12, post-secondary, and adults, as well as essential skills through a variety of programs and services.

Yukon Mine Training Association (YMTA)
The Yukon Mine Training Association (YMTA) is a partnership between the Yukon's mining- and resource-related industries and First Nations. National Literacy Websites

ABC Canada
ABC Canada Literacy Foundation is a national charity committed to promoting literacy to the general public and the private sector. They focus on public awareness programs, and the development and execution of national literacy awareness campaigns; provide promotional support to literacy groups; and conduct research to further the development of a fully literate Canadian population.

Canadian Literacy and Learning Network
The Canadian Literacy and Learning Network (CLLN) is a national non-profit organizations representing literacy coalitions, organizations and individuals from every province and territory. CLLN’s mission is to be a national voice for literacy for every Canadian through networking, research, government liaison, learner development, communication, collaboration and building the capacity to support the people and organizations involved with adult literacy education.

Federation canadienne pour l’alphabetisatiob en francais (FCAF)
FCAF is a national organization representing francophone literacy organizations across Canada.

Language Portal of Canada
The Language Portal of Canada is a Government of Canada Web site that showcases Canadian expertise in the area of language. It informs readers about Canadian resources that deal with different aspects of language.

Laubach Literacy of Canada
Laubach Literacy of Canada believes that literacy is a basic human right. On the national front, it trains volunteers tutors who help Canadians learn to read and write, and operated a national bookstore that provides resources to Canadian literacy workers and to adult literacy students.

National Adult Literacy Database (NALD)
The National Adult Literacy Database is an online resource for adult literacy practitioners. It has up-to-date literacy news, the latest literacy research and downloadable resources.

National Indigenous Literacy Association (NILA)
NILA serves as the eyes, ears, and voice of Aboriginal literacy in Canada, and reflects the spirit and values of Aboriginal peoples and Nations in all of its work. We emphasize Aboriginal culture-based quality in our services, and respect in all our relationships. NILA supports the development of holistic approaches to literacy education, and partnerships and links with quality Indigenous education initiatives wherever they are found. 

Office of Literacy & Essential Skills (OLES), Human Resource & Skill Development Canada
The Office of Literacy and Essential Skills (OLES) focuses on improving the literacy and essential skills of adult Canadians.

OLES focuses on:

  • understanding what works
  • developing practical tools and supports
  • providing employers, practitioners, and trainers with the tools and supports they need to improve the literacy and essential skills of adults

For example, OLES manages grant and contribution agreements with stakeholders across Canada, develops literacy and essential skills tools, and conducts research, policy development, and partnership engagement activities.

OLES works in collaboration with a variety of partners such as Government of Canada departments, provincial and territorial governments and coalitions, and national organizations.
